An eventful day
A little after I wrote the previous post, we left to start our day o’ shopping. The steps out of the apartment building were a little tricky, and because I had Chickpea in the stroller, Kabob picked up the front end so that we could lift her up and carry her the rest of the way. Sure enough, I bit it. I toppled completely on the ground, right in front of a group of moving men and a sweet older lady. My right ankle dictated that I definitely couldn’t move, so I just sat there while in the stroller Chickpea kept saying, “I sorry Mommy. I sorry Mommy. Hurt. Hurt.” The old lady kissed me on the cheek and asked me over and over again if I’d like some cream. I told her no thanks, in English of course. She blinked in response, so I shook my head no, and we just smiled at each other. Kabob drove up the rental car, loaded his two girls in, and we were off.
Twelve hours later – about 8 of them spent at Ikea – and we’re back. I got an Ace bandage a few hours in, thanks to some friends, and now, my right ankle looks as though a very large marble was sewn to it. My hubby, former search-and-rescue man that he is, promises that it’s just sprained, and that I’ll be fine. I suppose that many hours on my feet can’t be the best for it – but time is precious with this silly rental car, so we must trudge on.
Thankfully, we got a ton done today – as in, most of our furniture is ordered and should arrive early next week. We’ve got another full day tomorrow, but it’s great to think that by this time next week, we might actually have more than one mattress in our place. We’re going to hit up some local stores for a few pieces, and then I’ll finally go grocery shopping.

I’m so sorry about your ankle! What a bummer. Nice that you have a honey that knows what to look for. Hope it gets better quick! It sounds like you’re getting so much done. I’m sorry it’s slower than what you would prefer at times, but y’all seem to be handling everything as well as possible! Can’t wait to see pics of the “finished” product.
