Apparently someone was thinking about Abe Lincoln
So yesterday we spent almost six (six!) hours with our neighbor friends. We actually had a ball, even if it did mean Chickpea getting to bed at 11 p.m., and yet still waking up at 7:15 this morning. There were kids running around, adults speaking in two languages, tea, chocolate dessert, more tea, then dinner, then of course, more tea. French accordion music hummed in the background, Kabob and I sweated our pants off (people here have a much higher tolerance for heat, and thus had the heater going since it was, you know, 75 degrees), and pretend plastic food was scattered all over the floor. Good times.
During one of the tea times, Chickpea decided to sit some with the adults, and took her spot in the middle of a couch between two people we had just met. I’m on the other side of the room from her. We’re all chatting, talking about different things. Then, there was about a five second lull.
Out of nowhere, Chick looks at me from across the room, and says, “So. Mom, how’s it going with you?”
Apparently the two-year-old cannot stand silence. I mean, we already knew that, but now we have documented proof.
Maybe you had to be there, but it was darn funny coming out of left field from a toddler.
