i’m incredibly sorry for the tackiness of this post

by toblerone on December 27, 2007

A few of you asked how, well, you could give baby gifts of cash for us to use all the way over here.  You’re wanting to give money for things like diapers and other supplies, which is truly a stellar gift idea.  We are thankful and humbled.

Anyhoo, I’ve racked my brain, and the only methods I’ve come up with are:

  1. You can donate to our work account with our company.  Granted, this will go to our overall ministry, but that’s where our salary eventually comes from, so in the end it all works out.  You can email us for details if you don’t know the specifics.
  2. You can donate directly to our personal funds via that lovely little “donate” button on the right-hand column of this blog.  It will take you to Paypal, where you can give a monetary gift to our Paypal account, which then goes to our bank account.  Which will then turn in to funds for diapers and the like.  Which, let’s be honest, is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to newborn expenses.

Again, we are truly thankful that this thought has even popped into someone’s brain.  You are all a blessing to us.

Kabob is waiting for me with the Trivial Pursuit game board set up, so I’m going to enjoy our last night together just the two of us.  For some time, anyway.

we have a date!

by toblerone on December 26, 2007

dec29.jpgDecember 29, 3 p.m.  Well, they said to show up at the hospital at 2:30, they’ll do the c-section at 3:00.  My guess is, in this culture, that’s give or take two hours.  But 3 p.m. is 8 a.m. EST, 7 a.m. in Austin.  I’ll post some prayer requests soon.

So the countdown is at t-minus three days.  Hooray!

whew!

by toblerone on December 17, 2007

Quite the past few days we’ve had… Last night I was given a shower here in town from some fellow expat ladies, and it was such a blessing. It really was just a simple, sweet baby shower, but I relished all the girl time I had, because being around them in one setting made me realize that it has been forEVer since I had that. Really, time with a gaggle of females was probably the best shower gift I was given. That, and a gift bag of barbeque sauce, fajita seasoning, vanilla extract, and Bath & Body Works lotion. That gal knew how to give THE perfect I-live-overseas-and-I’m-from-Texas baby shower gift.

Then today, I had my 38-week check-up. Everything is looking a-okay, and next Monday, we’ll put a c-section date on the calendar. Of course, we were told we’d have a date on this appointment, but that’s par for the course in this culture. Maybe we’ll be told we’re having a c-section as I’m being wheeled into the operating room.

If you received an email update from us today, that means you’re on our email list, and we’ll keep you updated on some of the happenings in our life about twice a month. So if you’re not getting those, and you want to, well, just let me know, and we’ll see what we can do.

Have a good rest-o-the-Monday! I’m off to bed.

And oh yes - here’s a photo from the appointment today. A few people had trouble deciphering the thing, so I’ve added some helpful hints. While we have to deal with a lot of no fun having-a-baby-overseas stuff, one thing I do appreciate is the standard 4-D ultrasound at every appointment. That, and I call my OB at 3 a.m. on her cell phone.
