I shouldn’t tell her about the holiday’s controversy in some conservative Christian circles
CHICK: Ring, ring! I’ll get it. (Runs to her play cell phone) Hello? Yes? Oh hi! How’s it going? It’s going well here. Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh huh. Alright, okay, sounds good. Goodbye!
ME: Who was that?
CHICK: That was my best friend. We’re going to have a Halloween party over here.
ME: Sounds fun. Who’s your best friend?
CHICK: Jesus. He loves Halloween, and he’s going to be a cowboy.

Well hey if Jesus likes Halloween then it has to be ok.
I’m so glad I can keep up with Chick’s Chick-isms across the pond! I miss you guys. Went and watered the plant tonight. Allison begged me to go too and then wanted to hide when she thought she heard Chick coming up the stairs – after I had told her 3 times that Chick would not be home. So much for the little 3 year-olds to get their brains around. Love reading all that’s going on with ya’ll.
I love this story! Chick has just the right perspective.
Halloween can be fun if you just make it about dressing up in fun costumes and getting candy!
I think Jesus would love to dress up as a cowboy.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
hilarious. i absolutely love it.
welcome back! glad you enjoyed target
Giggle. that is too funny! But Children definitly know how to view there relationship with Christ don’t they?
Hello, I’m a new reader. My sister-in-law recommended checking out your blog and it is a crack up. My wife and I lived in China for a while and it is astounding how many of your posts remind me of life there. Bad haircuts, no lines, buses to everywhere, pushy people wanting to see the American baby…oh the memories. The cowboy Jesus was an unexpected twist though.
Okay! I lied – I just realized I can’t send you an invite to our blog b/c I can’t find your email address! Oh well!
Still a faithful reader,
Ruth Ann
Found your blog through the bloggies and then transferred to this one! This story is great. I love Halloween (the dressing up, the weird and wacky goodies) even though I am a Christian and have family and friends against it. I was living in South Africa during Halloween this past year and though we tried to have a party it never worked because of the culture’s strong ties/fears of witches/witchcraft/the occult. There is always a time and a place for Halloween and sometimes/wheres it’s neither time nor place. But it’s nice to know Jesus is into it!
