hooray, it worked!

So we just got back from the grocery store, and I’d say only about five people even took notice of Chickpea. Her hair, though still blonde, is just not as noticeable any more with it cut shorter. Usually, every other person at the very least will smile and say to each other the common word that means “what wonders God has willed.” This time, a few people just politely smiled at her, which would probably happen even in the States. Ahh… It was a relief for this mama.

It was quite cute, however, when in the produce section, she started singing at the top of her lungs, “Jesus loves me this I know!! For the Bible tells me so!!” It would have been really funny if the people could have understood her.

In other Chick news, we heard some shuffling around in her room last night soon after she went to bed, so we peeked in on her. She had taken off her diaper (which she just wears for naps and at night) and was trying on her third pair of underwear.  She really, truly, and eagerly wanted to wear underwear to sleep. So we let her. Kabob put the waterproof pad down under her fitted sheet, and I took her to the potty for one last go. At midnight, we woke her up to have her go again. And then this morning…

…her sheets were dry. I kid you not.

I was shocked. And she’s had underwear on all day today without one incident. We even went to the store, which you may know I’m a little freaked by, since public bathrooms that are decent are few and far between here.

But no worries. She was fine.

I don’t want to speak too soon, but we may have turned a new page.

We shall see.
