Ever have one of those days after an ex-HAUS-ting weekend, where you wake up and your house is a dis-AS-ter, you are ca-RAY-zy tired, and both your kids are ca-RANK-y? Yeah, me neither.

We had a fun weekend, but it was go-go-go the whole time. Friday, we had friends over from around 2-9 p.m., then Saturday we went to the zoo (we planned on going on Chickpea’s birthday, but it was raining then). We were gone much longer than we anticipated (you’d think after living here almost a year, we’d know that everything takes three times as long here), so we got home hours after Chick should have gone to bed. We woke up running on Sunday morning, going to fellowship, then out to a friend’s house way out of town. Got home late again. Chick was a basketcase.

Needless to say, today is a recovery day. We’re missing a birthday party at the moment, but oh well – it’s clear across town, and there is no way I’m taking the bus, then the metro, then walking across the highway with a whining preschooler and a screaming baby. And then to not get home until late afternoon.

So I’m off to tackle Mt. Laundry, which miraculously has not folded itself yet, and then some dishes are calling my name, which also have not yet put themselves in the dishwasher. And I should probably stop Chick from pouring all the puzzle pieces from all her puzzles into one big pile on the floor. And if I have any brain cells left, I hope to study language. We shall see.
