I actually love mine, and I've never had a problem blending ice in it. I make frozen coffee drinks in mine all the time, with automatic ice maker ice cubes, and I've never had a problem. I use mine for smoothies/milkshakes, baby food, salad dressings, pesto, and salsa. I've had it for about 3 or 4 years now.

Love it, love it, love it!!!! Especially because I put a lot of purees in my recipes and love to make smoothies. And, you can get it from Bed Bath and Beyond for about $40 if you use your 20% off coupon! Highly recommend. I never had a food processor, but I would think this is much simpler and easier to manage, clean, and store.

NO WAY! What a waste of $$$!! They are quite unreliable too from what I have heard from my friends...easy to "burn" the motor. I wouldn't know; I was so disappointed that I didn't use it enough to blow anything on it. I agree...use the food processor. :)

It's not as useful as I thought it'd be. However, I love using it to mix eggs and milk and to mince garlic cloves (I hate getting fresh garlic on my hands, it's so sticky!!!). Those are the two things I use it for. Not worth the $40 to me...oh, well.

I've never used the magic bullet, but i have a Vita-mix, and I LOVE it! For the record, I didn't purchase it myself, it was a gift. It's outrageously expensive, but does EVERYTHING. I can make soups from cold, raw ingredients, and they will come out steaming hot because the friction is so high. I made baby food in bulk with it, and froze it in ice trays, and it makes the best margaritas, too;) I can make perfectly light and powdery powdered sugar from white sugar, amazingly smooth hummus, nut butters, smoothies, etc. The speeds are variable from 1-10 with a super high power boost, so it will coarsely chop well, or puree to perfection. If you have a few hundred dollars you don't know what to do with;), or a lot of family who will combine to get it for you;) It's a great, and versatile tool. (did i sound like a commercial??;)

Boo! I liked it at first (used it for making baby food) but shortly after it started to smell a little like burning and worked worse and worse. Eventually I took it back to Costco (thankfully they are great about returns) and just bought a simple Osterizer blender from Target that had good reviews on amazon. It's super loud but works great and has less parts to worry about storing (another annoyance I realized about the Magic Bullet).

Hi Tsh,

We have one of these! One Christmas, Charlie's dad went crazy and bought them for everybody in the family. Short answer: we really like it. Let me elaborate on that...

Pros:
It rocks for baby food. When the twins were still needing things mushy, I used it several times a day. We were also given a baby food processor, and the magic bullet works SO much better, as well as being easier to clean. The twins are past that stage now, so I don't use it nearly so often. Now my primary uses are making smoothies (we use OJ, bananas, and raw cream... I don't try to do ice) or whipping cream. I have also used it when I buy a big thing of fresh ginger... I will pulverize it in the magic bullet, and freeze the ginger in an ice cube tray for later use. I recently realized that I NEVER use the Cuisinart food processor we got for our wedding seven years ago, and I should probably pass it along to somebody who would use it!

Cons:
It is true that all the various cups take up space in a cabinet. The appliance itself is so compact, it actually lives on our counter all the time. But we don't really have any drawers in our little kitchen, and so I have all the cups in a cabinet over the stove. Stuff is always falling out at me from that cabinet. This is really a minor complaint, though. And it's true that it can't do everything. It really pulverizes whatever you put in it -- I find it hard to control it and make it just gently chop something up. Also, it doesn't whip egg whites, apparently. I haven't tried, because I didn't want to make more dirty dishes if it wouldn't work, but online research said it wouldn't...

Good luck with your decision!

We have one and I would say that it is definitely worth the money, but we also don't use it very often and you do need to be careful with cleaning. We also have an older store-brand model of the same thing. I would say that the Magic Bullet has been more durable thus far, but they both work quite well.
