Oh it doesn’t show signs of stopping…
None of the photos we took would do today’s weather justice (I’ll load those very soon), and I doubt my words will, too. We woke up to quite a bit of snow, the most out of the three snowstorms we’ve experienced in the two weeks we’ve been here in Colorado. It was beautiful, it was cold, it was WINDY. Oh my, was it windy. We’d be looking out the window, and a gust of snow would suddenly splatter on the windows. It was pretty cool, actually.
Our instructors spent the night here at the lodge, as did the babysitters, so classes resumed as normal. In the training room there are picturesque windows on either side of the podium, so at times it was easy to drift off and watch the wind thrust the snowflakes every which way. It snowed and snowed and snowed. It didn’t stop snowing until 4 p.m., right when classes were over. So naturally, it was time to play.
Kabob went sledding with some of our new friends here, just outside the lodge, while Chickpea and I walked around in the snow, attempted a snowman, and made some snowballs. Well, “walked around†isn’t really true – I took one step and the snow went up to my thigh. So we stayed in the most domesticated areas, meaning the concrete patio with about six inches of snow. At one point, Chick tried to walk to the slide on the playground (which was only about two feet long at this point, since the rest was under the snow). She was doing pretty good until the snow was about to her waist. She looked at me and said, “Stuck. Stuck. Stuck! STUCK!!!†After that, we watched Daddy play from inside.
So overall, a fun, unique day for this family from Texas. As of now, the road leading to our cabin for the next four days is closed, but the weekend is supposed to really warm up again. So if worst comes to worst, we’ll just stay an extra day here in this lodge, and then head to the cabin a day late. It’s hard to believe our language workshop ends tomorrow, but I’d say we finished on a great note.
What did you do today?
