One year ago today, we stepped foot on this soil and called it “home” for this season of life. It has now been 365 days since we’ve been in the good ol’ US of A.
It has flown by, and it has creeped along. It has been such a stretching and personal season of growth, and it’s been the most frustrating thing I’ve ever signed up to do. It’s been a blessing, and it’s been the valley.
In short, 2007 was THE HARDEST YEAR OF MY LIFE. EVER.
But God is so much more personal to me now. He’s my friend and my Father. He loves me, and He loves everyone that surrounds me. He has whispered some secrets of life to me that I never would have known had we not boarded that plane. For that, I am thankful.
He is so good. And He has His hedge of protection around this growing little family. Even though life here is not easy, it’s so much easier than fighting His will and walking a path that wasn’t ours to tread. We are exactly where He wants us to be right now. It is a delight to be wherever He has us. Geography means very little to Him. He wants our hearts.
These two Scriptures were etched on my heart this last year:
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. - Psalm 37:3-6
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. - Habakkuk 3:17-19
To celebrate, we will be doing something we hardly ever do in this expensive country - going out to eat for dinner. Woo-hoo!

Yippiee!! Congrats on the One Year Mark!
I understand the whole thing about it being the hardest year of your life…I would say my first year on the field was my hardest year too.
Cheers…here’s to a great year #2!
