out of the mouths of two-year-olds
Some of Chickpea’s favorite phrases lately:
“Cool!” “Awesome!” and “Perfect!” – in response to nearly anything that doesn’t involve time-outs, being told to clean up, or bonking her head on the doorframe. Example – “Chickpea, we’re having oatmeal for breakfast.” “Oatmeal? That’s AWESOME!”
“That’s ca-razy!” – Random response in the middle of a story someone is sharing. As in, “You went to the store today? That’s ca-razy!”
“So…Â How’s it going with you?” – Her silence breaker whenever no one has said anything for two minutes.
“Aw, pickles.” – Whenever she drops something. (Yes, note the Higglytown Heroes reference here.)
“Whoops-a-daisies.” – Response to a fall or painless bonk – she’s been saying this for almost a year now.
“So sweeEEEt!” – Response to anything remotely cute, such as a baby, kitten, or something pink. She said this about 500 times during our shower, though I don’t think many of you could hear it.
“That was a GREAT story!” – Her response to the end of any book.
“Wha? What was that? What’s making that noise? Let’s go find out.” – Her start to a make-believe adventure, when she wants us to follow her and play.
And last night I was on the phone with a friend, and she came running to me. She said, “Mom. We’ve got trouble brewing.” I said, “What’s up?” She said, “I can’t find my hair clips.”
I really need to keep a little notebook with me to scratch her sayings down, because she says the funniest things all. day. long. And of course, by the time I want to tell someone or blog about it, I’ve forgotten. Grr.

Gotta love it! I’m terrible about writing down things that Munchkin says, but I really wish we lived closer to y’all, ’cause they seem to be on the same “wave length” so often. ;o)
All those things crack me up, but I especially love the trying to get y’all to go on an adventure with her! So funny!
That is adorable. I can’t wait till Bear starts talking like that. All we hear is Dada, Mama, and Baba in varied tones all day long.
I think 2-3 years is the best age EVER for this stuff. I LOVE “we’ve got trouble brewing”. Oh my word. Gotta love these precocious little talkers. Chickpea reminds me so much of Claire at that age (and still now). She cracks me up constantly with what she comes up with.
