Quite miscellaneous

Well, we’re settling in here in Oregon, and it didn’t take me long to remember why I had S.A.D. a few years ago when we lived here.  Good gravy, it takes all my energy just to be alert and awake – I’m wiped out.  But other than not having Mr. Sun for company, it’s good to be here.  We hit the ground running meeting with two groups yesterday, and in between I did three loads of laundry due to a certain bottle of nail polish fuming up an entire suitcase.  Don’t ask.

So it’s good to be in one place for awhile!  We’re halfway through our trip, and it’s really flying by.  I sat and watched a little TV last night with my in-laws, and it’s been forever since I watched it – I can’t believe Christmas commercials are on.  Until a few days ago I forgot Thanksgiving was almost here, so watching them just hit me like a brick.  These last holidays in the States of ours are just going to fly by.

I’m in the process of revamping this blog, making it more the way I need/want it to be by the time we leave.  But seeing as I need to crank out our newsletter ASAP, its unveiling will have to wait for a few weeks.  I’m sure you’re just sitting on the edge of your seat.

So on that note, a good friend of mine living across the world wrote us a great e-mail yesterday.  I thought his thoughts here were especially encouraging:  “Hope you guys are doing well and are encouraged about the big jump.  …This really is a great job.  If Stanford were to tell me they would give me a full ride through an e.e. graduate program, it might be a little tempting, but I would definitely decline.  Some Eric Liddell quotes come to mind, but I forget how they go.  Be encouraged about the call He has given you and that, from someone on this side, that it is worth all of the classes and driving and flying and sweat and tears and goodbyes.”

Good stuff.  Thanks, friend.

Alright, off to the grocery store, which, shocked as I am, actually sounds nice and routine.  Ahhh…  I really am just a Mama with a family to nurture.
