Sigh… I feel nice and refreshed after a great weekend with my hubby. It was so fun to not have a toddler dictate how and where I spend our time – it actually freaked me out a little bit. You mean, we don’t HAVE to eat lunch right now? We could just wait until the both of us are hungry? That’s madness! We had a 30 minute wait for dinner on Friday night, and it didn’t phase us one bit, because we did not have a 2-foot person telling us how horrible it was to wait for something you want RIGHT NOW.

So the weekend was great, and I spent this morning thanking God for all the many blessings in my life. Here are just some that came to mind…

• A husband that encourages me, takes care of me, loves me, and is just a lot of fun to be with. He’s my best friend.

• A flock of encouraging people surrounding us – from my mom, who watched Chickpea for the time we were gone, to the sweet woman at church who offered her home for an open house for us, to Cheryl, who’s letting Chickpea take her nap at her place today so I can get things done.

• That so many people have already claimed our stuff!

• That we really don’t have that much stuff to begin with. This would be so much harder if we had lived in the same house for 20 years and had amassed 2,000 square feet worth of stuff. We’ve moved six times in our almost four years of marriage, which has helped us streamline to mostly the essentials.

• I read Hebrews 12 today, and I’m so thankful for the Word. This chapter seemed very fitting and encouraging today.

• That our church home cares so deeply about Truth and teaching only the Bible, and that it wants to be culturally relevant without selling out to trends and meeting only felt needs. I love that we have such a great Bible teacher at the pulpit. I love all the people that make up this local Body. I love that we’re starting a series on Acts, which is one of my favorite parts of the Bible.

• That having my birthday means it’s almost the end of summer – only about 4-6 weeks left of miserable weather. Yahoo!
