the Holy Spirit’s alive and well
Today, Chickpea was doing one of her chores – putting up the silverware from the dishwasher:
- CHICK: Mom, I just can’t do my chores! I don’t have any power (said dramatically, of course). I’m so small.
- ME: (trying not to laugh) Okay, well, why don’t you pray and ask Jesus to give you strength to do your chores?
- CHICK: That’s a good idea. I’ll ask him in my head. (quiet for awhile)
- CHICK: He said okay! He’ll give me strength.
- ME: Oh good.
- CHICK: Oh! And he just gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
- ME: Wow! That’s really cool.
- CHICK: And he says to tell you hi.
A few seconds later…
- CHICK: Mom, I just asked God if I can take my pink blankie with me to Heaven, and he said yes, because He loves me.
He meets our needs, the big and the small ones.

that is awesome. Our “safari” is learning that prayer is good and that God answers prayers. We have been praying for rain and that is what we got. Children remind us that sometimes we make God so complicated and the true is he is very simple because children understand.
awesome!
it’s called “childlike faith” for a reason! i love it!
What an endearing post! I love it!
That’s awesome! My 4-year old just asked Jesus into his heart a couple weeks ago. And he’ll tell me almost the exact same thing about “not having any power” to do his chores or clean up. But when I suggest that he pray and ask Jesus for strength, he tells me he doesn’t want to b/c he doesn’t want the strength – b/c he actually doesn’t *want* to clean up!!
