Yo ho, yo ho, we finally went on another date
Yesterday we went on a DATE. A real live, toddler-less date. It was our second one in the three months we’ve lived here, and by golly, if there was anything we learned from our fun day yesterday, it that we absolutely must make a point to go on more dates while we’re here. Back in Austin we were usually diligent about going on dates twice a month, and it really did restore our sanity. But that was when we lived in the same city as grandparents. Now days, we have to go across town to our friends that have kids around Chickpea’s age, and while it’s so great that they willingly watch her, it takes an hour one way to get there. So when we left their home last night at 9:30, it meant we walked in to our place around 10:30, and with all the teeth brushing, blanket corralling, and general calming down that was needed, Chick wasn’t in bed until 11 p.m. Yikes.
But it was still most definitely worth it. We lounged around at Starbucks for a bit, then went to see the third Pirates of the Caribbean, and then had dinner at a delicious-but-overpriced Italian restaurant. It was great ordering something without considering how split-able it was, or whether Chickpea would eat any of it. And I actually thought the movie was pretty good – much better than I thought it would be. It was a bit too violent for my taste (I have zero tolerance) and it was definitely unreal, but as Kabob pointed out when I made these two observations – it’s a PIRATE movie. Hmm. A strong point.
And I am very proud of ourselves (my dad would be, too) that we stayed until the end of the credits and saw what I think is the final “wrap-up” of the trilogy. Meaning I don’t think they’re making another one. And I was even prouder of myself for noting the Keith Richards cameo role before the credits confirmed it. The whole time I was thinking, “That pirate looks so familiar…,” and then I thought, “I think he’s a musician, but I can’t put my finger on it.” And then I realized he was definitely the guitarist for The Rolling Stones, but for the life of me, I couldn’t remember his name.  And then about 20 minutes later his name came to me, so I pulled on Kabob’s shirt and loudly whispered, “Keith Richards!,” to which he gave me the I’m-so-proud-of-you look I was hoping for.
Well, this post has gone a long way to nowhere, so I’ll just end it with this – I loaded about seven more photos on Flickr. They’re nothing to write home about, but there you go.
Have a happy Monday.

I’m impressed – I TOTALLY missed the Keith Richards cameo and had to have it all explained to me later. And we didn’t stay ’til the end of the credits, either! – what’d we miss?!?
Your date sounds pretty fun too. I think you should definitely make them a priority.
I love the pictures – thanks!
